Short overview of me
I am the CEO and co-founder of Apollo Research. My main focus is AI scheming: AI systems covertly pursuing misaligned goals while hiding them from their developers and users. I work on detecting scheming, understanding how and when it emerges, and building monitoring and control methods so that we can catch and stop misaligned AI systems even if alignment efforts fail.
In September 2026, I testified before the U.S. Senate on the risks of rogue and misaligned AI. For more details, see my CV.
Update 2024: I'm barely using this blog anymore. Most of my recent writing is on the Apollo Research blog, and I post shorter thoughts on Twitter/X.
